Landscape Visual Impact Assessment Photography (LVIA)

Spent a couple of days shooting some very different images to my normal calendar style landscapes in the form of an LVIA commission. The images were commissioned as part of a landscape visual impact assessment for a major road development on the A57 near Todwick in South Yorkshire. I’ll not bore you with lots of images from this shoot as they aren’t particularly inspiring, and to be honest, it bored me too. Because the photos are for an LVIA, I have to shoot from exactly where I’m told using a GPS to locate the exact spot, then calculate the angle of shooting and create a series of images that will stitch together to create a panoramic image. It all has to be done to a set of specific standards using a fixed 50mm lens with descriptions of how it was executed for each image. Still, it pays the bills.
