Excite Clothing shoot

Another of our regular shoots with Excite Clothing, this time size 8-10 range. We had our regular model Sarah over from Manchester and also new girl Charlotte from Leeds as there was quite a range of clothes to gwr through and having two girls allows us to shoot much quicker as we can shoot one while the other is changing. Charlotte’s main line of work is dancing and she joined us having just return from an 8 month stint on cruise ships sporting a tan that she certainly didn’t get in the UK these past weeks!

Danwood PR shoot

Danwood contacted me for a PR shoot at one of their clients’ premises in Leeds where they’d just installed one of their latest print machines at Transprint in Wortley. I’ve done a few shoots for Danwood in the past couple of years, mainly at their Castleford offices shooting headshots of their staff, but today the brief was to photograph their client with the new print machine. To be honest, it looked rather like a large photocopier and it’s location, tucked in the corner of a big print warehouse, meant I knew I had my work cut out to make a decent image! Ideally, I would have liked the Transprint branding in the image but there was no signage at all so I figured the designers would have to work something into the final image. With this in mind I photographed a small section of a Transprint wall planner to give me a logo for later use! I added a strobe dialled down to around 1/64 and CTB’d it to give a nice blue halo to the machine which I thought might make it look a bit more ‘space age’ and then I lit Dave, the owner of Transprint, with a speedlight at around 1/8 through a softbox. Here’s a couple of shots from the session of a variety of folks with the machine including the Danwood salesman and my quick montage to get the branding in :¬)

Hanson Bricks: East Ardsley & Thornhill Lees

Hanson Bricks, based in Maidenhead, commisoned me to shoot some architectural images of completed projects that have been built using their bricks. I’ve done images for Hanson around this time of year for the past couple of years and the timing of the images is so that they can be used along with a submission to the industry design awards as well as for editorial and advertising use within their company. They had contacted me initially to shoot a student village in Bradford and another development in Leeds but I’ve been waiting for a break in the weather (long wait, I know!) to shoot those projects, but then they suddenly decided to shoot these two sites in addition but needed the images quickly. After two solid days of rain I made a dash for it as the sky seemed blue for once with some good clouds. However, I’d only just set up the camera at the first site when the heavens opened once again and I stood beneath a large brolly shooting wet weather images! I decided to pack up and sit it out in the car but with no sign of a let up and time ebbing, I called it a day and headed off to the studio to shoot a model portfolio, followed by a sprint into Leeds to shoot for another client who needed me for some PR shots! By the time I’d finished the other shoots, the sun was out again and so I hit East Ardsley mid-afternoon on my way back from Leeds. The sun stayed out for the rest of the day and I managed to complete the Ardsley shoot then get back down to Thornhill to mop up there too. Busy day all round really!

Pre-wedding: Ben & Kirsty at Hotel St Pierre

While Andy Murray was battling it out for his place in Wimbledon history, I met up with Ben & Kirsty at Thornes Park for a planning meeting ahead of their Hotel St Pierre wedding in August. Before going through the running order for their day, we had a bit of a pre-wedding shoot to give them an idea of what to expect when we shoot on their wedding day. Any initial nerves quickly disappeared and Ben and Kirsty soon got into the swing of it, relaxed and had good fun as you can see from the photos so I reckon that, as long as the weather holds and we can get to Newmillerdam, we will get some great images on the day. Here are a few images from the shoot.

Sarah & Ross’s wedding Kings Croft Hotel

Today was Ross & Sarah’s big day as they were married at St Peter’s & St Leonard’s Church in Horbury before heading on to the reception at Kings Croft Hotel at Pontefract in a custom VW camper. Thankfully, the torrential rain of yesterday which caused so much flooding and would have wiped out any chance of outdoor wedding photography seemed to have left us, though we did have to dodge a few heavy showers at Kings Croft. However, we managed to get out for most of the photos and despite the waterlogged lawns we got through the shoot just in time as the heavens opened again as we made our way in to the wedding breakfast! Here are a few shots from the day just so the couple can see some images before jetting off to Mexico on Monday.

Hannah’s birthday portrait shoot

Hannah arrived at the studio today to have her portrait shoot that best friend Stacey had bought for her as a birthday gift. Hannah had already confessed to me on the phone that she was nervous and unsure about the whole thing and the trepidation was obvious in her face has she entered the studio. However, after chatting and shooting a good few images, Hannah began to relax and by the end of the session had really loosened up and even appeared to be enjoying the shoot :¬) The shoot was good fun and Hannah was easy to get on with and I think we did OK in the end. Here are a few images from the portrait shoot and I’m kind of guessing she’s got the bug and I’ll be seeing her again soon for a boudoir shoot haha!
