Today I was asked by local recruitment firm, Bagnall Hopkins, to shoot some headshots of new starter Sarah in a similar style to those already on their website. Rather than bring Sarah down to the studio, I nipped over to thier offices to do a location shoot. I love this type of fast shooting – quickly in, choose location, set up lighting, bring in subject and bang! Image done. For Sarah’s headshots, I decided to use a leather settee in the reception with wooden Venitian blind as a backdrop for interest. I used an old SB28 as key light through a small softbox and, just to lift the background, I gelled up an SB800 for warmth and fired it through a parlour fern to put some added shadow interest on the background, though I wished I’d lifted the flash slightly as its throwing the shadow of the chair arm onto the blind. After a couple of shots like this, I angled the backlight more towards Sarah for some warm backlighting with a wrap around effect.
