Aspiring actress Sarah was in the studio today for a headshots photoshoot for her degree coursework after finding me on the web. For a simple headshot shoot I usually use a white background and a black background and I can shoot a few as a light grey background too simply by not lighting the white sweep too much, By holding back the light I get a really smooth 20% grey tone. As a headshots photographer, the success is all about engaging with the sitter and, although Sarah felt it best not to smile, I really think it lights up a face and a few smiley shots never go amiss in my opinion.
